Challenges of Choosing the Correct Work Glove in the Automotive Industry

As always, it is important to know how to select proper gloves for the task at hand. This week, we’ll specifically address some challenges that come when choosing a glove for an automotive environment.
Since there are so many different tasks going on within a single automotive shop; from metal handling, painting, assembly, grinding, the list goes on an on. For all of these different jobs, a different type of glove is required. The best way to tackle purchasing gloves for an entire automotive shop is to look at the end user of the glove. Employees who work in specific areas know that they need a certain type of glove for the proper protection they need. So when they aren’t provided with the right type of glove, they might just avoid wearing gloves altogether, which creates a much bigger safety problem for all involved.

The challenge that arises with the need for different gloves for every task, is that one person may have to use 3 or more types of gloves for all of their various tasks. In order to combat this challenge, you should look for gloves that incorporate excellent dexterity and have been engineered with anti-vibration technology.
Gloves with silicone can cause major problems in automotive plants, because the silicone reacts with the paint, creating large craters in the paint of the car. This in turn costs thousands of dollars to restore the plant to a safe working order. So, another challenge is eliminating gloves that have silicone in any part of them, such as the palm coating, the yarn coating, or the elastic band on the wrist. By being more vigilant in not buying gloves containing silicone, you can eliminate a lot of potential costly problems.

Glove manufacturers are always striving to be innovative and design long lasting versatile gloves that will be appropriate for the automotive industry. Click here or here to find some really excellent options for your automotive plant.
