Choosing Disposable Gloves for Various Tasks

Choosing Disposable Gloves for Various Tasks

If you’re trying to decide on a pair disposable gloves for a particular job, we’ve got you covered with some helpful tips to help you make the right choice.

Types of Disposable Gloves

There are three main categories of disposable glove material that are most commonly used across all industries.

Latex gloves are the most well-known type of disposable glove. Their rise in popularity is largely due to the fact that they are super durable, economically friendly, and have great fit. Due to their well-fitting nature, however, they are not the most breathable gloves and we recommend changing them often, or whenever your hands begin to feel sweaty or uncomfortable. Additionally, many people have an allergy to latex, which makes using disposable latex gloves potentially problematic.

Nitrile gloves are an excellent hypo-allergenic option to latex gloves and are quickly growing in popularity among people with an allergy to latex. They are more durable than latex and are also inherently resistant to many common chemicals found in cleaners. Additionally, they offer great puncture resistance and fit well, making them perfect for virtually any task.

Vinyl gloves are the loosest fitting disposable glove out of the big three. Due to their loose fit, we don’t recommend them for tasks that require lots of tactile sensitivity or dexterity. They are ideal for the food service industry because they’re breathable and economically friendly. They are not recommended for use in the medical industry.

Other Factors

Depending on the task you’re performing, you may want to consider a few other features your disposable gloves. One common feature is a gripped texture on the palm and fingers of a glove. This feature is typically found on disposable nitrile gloves and offers enhanced grip, particularly in wet or oily conditions.

If you’re working in an environment with higher temperatures, you may want to consider using latex gloves, because that material is the most heat resistant out of latex, nitrile, and vinyl.
